We are back in Switzerland after six wonderful months of travel. Our last destination, Japan, turned out to be a great choice, before going back and settling in our new hometown Lausanne. Our days in Japan can be best described through photos and these lenses : Cherry Blossom Natural phenomenon that is absolutely stunning, when the trees are flowering and turning the green into beautiful white and pink. We were lucky to time our visit quite perfectly and could enjoy plenty of Cherry Blossom...

Island-hopping in a country with more than 7,000 islands? Sounds like the right thing to do when in the Philippines. So we signed up for a five days expedition with Tao Philippines and joined a group of fellow travelers to crisscross the Palawan islands. With a bit of a stressful journey to join the trip start (the first of two flights was canceled due to bad weather, and we had to make a detour to Manila), we made it just in time as the boat was leaving the town of El Nido. This was also the...

We are having a great time in the Philippines. So far we have spent three weeks here and we have just extended our visa so that we can spend another two-three weeks before it is time to break up and move to the next – and last – destination on our travel. Yes, the "last", as we have only one month left before our return to Switzerland. And it will be one crazy exciting and busy month. On one hand, we will add every possible qualitative activity into our days and on the other hand, we will...

We just spent another couple of amazing weeks in one of our absolute favorite countries: Vietnam. This time we were accompanied by Michael’s children, Masja and Marc. We plan the travel itinerary such as to have a mix of action, culture, food, beach, wildlife, and nature. Here are our top 10 highlights: #1 - Mekong Delta on bicycles. A great way to get close to the Vietnamese daily life, see them growing rice and fruits, bringing it to the markets and also witness their celebrations, like a...

Well arrived in Southern Laos after a 24h bus ride from Vietnam on Dec 6, we started to get ready for our next activity: The southern Swing - a loop starting from Pakse and taking the Bolaven Plateau and Southern Lao provinces. The area is filled with scenic waterfalls, farmland and jungle, small villages and ethnic diversity. Add to that long distances of excellent roads with hardly any traffic. A dream for the novices we are. The best way to discover it is to bring "your own wheels", so we...

Hanoi, with its seven million people and five million motorbikes, is a great place to spend a few days and get acclimatized to the busy life and culture. Hard to believe that back in the early 1990s there were practically no motorbikes, but only bicycles and public buses. Now everyone seems to have a scooter and nothing is too big, odd or dangerous to be transported on a scooter. Vietnamese will transport their entire home if they can. Couples with two children on one scooter is a common sight...

Bali and Lombok was the center of our first visit to Indonesia. We spent three wonderful weeks here and can't wait to come back later, to visit Sulawesi, one of the northern parts of the country after New Year. Here are some of our highlights in photo and text.

Diving has been a long time dream for me. Always enjoying snorkeling, when on vacation, yet dreaming of the freedom of going deeper and staying under water to enjoy the fascinating underworld of colorful fishes and corals. Getting certified takes quite some time, so now seemed to be the right moment. Anouk has been diving in Egypt and Thailand years ago and with both of us having the certification, we can now include diving on our traveling agenda for the coming months. Finding good spots to...

We are off now for almost 7 weeks already and currently traveling Indonesia. This means that we are close to a quarter of our travel time. I don’t think we can repeat it to ourselves enough, times really flies! Now I also blame myself (it was my task) on having waited so long to write our blog post on objectives. It would have saved me the embarrassment of confessing that we are already behind. Never mind, it is never too late to realize dreams. Partially met objectives are still better than...

This wonderful country has a lot to offer to its visitors. Our first destination did not disappoint us the slightest.

About Us

Anouk loves cats, Michael prefers birds (especially the colored ones). Who would have guessed that this could be compatible? But it is. Married in 2015 and always looking for new things to try and new skills to learn. Anouk is the natural born initiator. "Let's do it now!" is her tagline. Michael connects the dots and is a bit of a "quality controller". Noticing and dealing with unnoticed important details. Quite good combination and foundation for a couple and life, that never gets boring.
